The Last Day
Chris at the top of Ecxtasy Jr I believe.
The last day we spent at Seneca I woke up and it was getting hot in my tent. It was strange after waking up in the freezing cold every morning before. I crawled out and noticed the sun was pretty high over the cliffline. We had slept in a bit. Climbing every day takes a toll on you but when you drive 8 hours to climb thats what you do. The plan was to do some single pitches on the South end. I lead up Candy Corner. It was fantastic. Every move was cool, the gear was tricky. A few hard moves then a rest. Mid route I looked around the arete and there was a ledge with a seat built in. I popped around the corner and had a sit down break. The route went on for 90 feet or so. Definitely the best pitch of the trip for me. I love that route.
It was Chris's lead and I thought Totem would be good but he was pretty tired, so we took a break. We took a break for hours on the rock below Candy Corner. The day was perfect and it was nice to just chill at the base of Seneca. A couple bums.
We later did the first pitch of Skyline, wich goes up the other side of the arete from Candy Corner. I enjoyed both routes emensly. Chris missed out on the second pitch of Skyline. It has the wildest easy traverse right off the anchors. Nothing but air under you with good feet. It's something he can do next trip.
If I get another chace to go ,I may just hop on Ecxtasy again. Sure it rattled my cage the first time but I have the beta now. I think about it from time to time. It would be grand to send it.
Seneca is an amazing place. It has more classics I haven't done and the people are nice, the scenery is tops, and it's just good to go on a vacation from your routine.
